About

These posts are about the history of the people and places of Paignton with a difference, inasmuch as this is mostly new research which you will not have read before.

We are a small local history group whose members are researching various interesting old Paignton buildings and their inhabitants. We are mostly looking at buildings that have not been written about before or may only have been touched upon briefly. We meet in Paignton library on the first Tuesday of every month at 2pm and welcome new members. There are no charges. Please enquire in the library.

Some of these posts are work in progress and are being updated or added to as more information is found. We welcome any interesting comments or additional information about the posts. To prevent any spam or abusive comments they will be approved before being posted. This blog is administered by Richard Farrow of Paignton.

Some of our Paignton History Group members on a field trip to Parkfield at 38 Esplanade Road, Paignton (see our blog posts on Parkfield). We had a guided tour of the interior of the house before going outside to see the various outbuildings like the stables, carriage room and the poison store. We met some volunteers who told us how they are clearing the gardens and restoring the outbuildings. We also heard how the property is being used to benefit the local community.
